Flowers From New England....
This is a floral gallery show, run recently in Tokyo.
We hope that you enjoy browsing our exhibition halls, and get as much
enjoyment from your viewing as we have in its presentation!
A Word of Welcome
Hi I am Dr. Stephen Rittner of the Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston.
It is my honor to introduce to you the "Flowers From New England" gallery showing.
This gallery showing was presented recently in Tokyo by four of my school's alumnae......Yoshie Hayata, Kumi Ohashi, Satoko Oki, and Satoko Oyama.... and it is my great pleasure to present it here in cyberspace.
The designers told me that they had two very specific goals in mind when setting up this exhibit.
The first and the most important goal, was to illustrate the integration of floral art in everyday life.........
Secondly, while attending Rittners Floral School, they found inspiration from the unique architecture, and visual motifs, characteristic of New England. They wanted to capture a bit of that New England flavor in the overall setting and feel of the presentation.
Flowers and floral designing have been appreciated and enjoyed by most cultures throughout the world for thousands of years....We utilize floral art for a wide range of occasions from happy to sad....When one is born, flowers are there. When one gets married, flowers add to the festive occasion....And when one passes on, flowers form a very special tribute and memorial......Floral art is a very special art form, for it touches us emotionally....We react to both the flowers themselves and to their design....We express our feelings.......our joy, our love, and our friendship through floral art.....Floral designing shapes space, and in so doing, makes us feel better about our surroundings, and ourselves............
It should come as no surprise then, that flowers and their art, can and should be a part of everyday living.........The inclusion of flowers within our homes and amongst our furnishings is a wonderful way to enhance our lives........and remind us of our ties to nature........Best of all....the use of floral art in everyday life makes us feel happy.
Meet the "Beacon Season Market" Designers
The designers who stylized the floral art that you will enjoy here call themselves the "Beacon Season Market" after the famous street of that name in Boston.....Here they are in the Wedding Corner of the exhibit..........
Please meet (from the left standing) Kumi Ohashi, Yoshie Hayata, Satoko Oki and (seated) Satoko Oyama.
A cyberspace exibition would not be possible without the work of photographers....The two photographers who are responsible for the images presented here are Hiroyuki Oki and Masato Tachibana.
